Welcome to one of the South's most renowned and unique landmarks! The 24-acre CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO vacation and convention complex is located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga and has something exciting to offer everyone. The Chattanooga Choo Choo combines history and fun in a delightful blend that appeals to visitors of all ages. First built in 1908, the Chattanooga Choo Choo was a fashionable hotel before being converted to a train depot. When the last train ran in 1970 it seemed destined for the wrecking ball but now Chattanooga Choo Choo joins "Historic Hotels of America" whose collection includes such illustrious hotels as Memphis, Tennessee's Peabody and Colorado Springs' Broadmoor. Although the Chattanooga Terminal Station was significant in its role of the train era with its “Track 29,” little was known about the first Chattanooga Choo Choo. Only after Glenn Miller Orchestra made the catchy song popular in the late 1940s did the name become world famous. The song, "Chattanooga Choo Choo," traveled fast throughout the circles of Europe during World War II, and today it is an international favorite. Visit the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo stationed right at the hotel complex and walk to some of Chattanooga’s favorite attractions and restaurants. The Choo Choo is the perfect place to enjoy the bands and fun of the Chattanooga Traditional Jazz Festival! |
